The Kids are alright.

For what feels like the first time in five years, the Phillies have real hope appearing on the horizon from the farm system. Phillies fans are pretty used to prospects letting them down over the years.
Congrats to
for having a nice season with the stick in Colorado.
Let's talk about some young Phillies who could make a real difference next season.
Justin Crawford is the son of Tampa Bay Rays legend Carl Crawford. Every time I see this kid play, I feel older. He feels like someone copied and pasted an all-star leadoff hitter in the 2000s.
Adam Berry from MLB.com said it best.
He bats left, throws right, and has speed for days. He’s previously made some mental lapses in his outfield defense, but he can go get it when he's on.
A transition to a corner outfield slot can potentially put him on a Gold Glove path.
In 112 games in Lehigh Valley this season, he slashed .334/.411/.452 while stealing 46 bags. He’ll be 22 next season, and unless something miraculous happens in the next couple of months, I fully expect him to be in the starting lineup come opening day, a rarity for Phillies Rookies.
It feels like we’ve been waiting on Andrew Painter's debut for ten years now. That’s not for a bad reason either. Painter’s stuff is electric, boasting a plus fastball and wipeout secondaries. Had he attacked AAA coming back from injury, we most likely would have seen him down the stretch for the Phillies. The to-be 23-year-old will have a spot in the Phillies' rotation more than likely next season. If Ranger Suarez walks without much of a fight, you know why.
Aidan Miller has made an almost meteoric rise at the end of the season. After a relatively slow start to the season, he took off post-trade deadline in a sprint that ultimately ended with him in AAA and some people reevaluating the Phillies' infield of the future. Generally profiled as a right-handed power-hitting shortstop, his landing spot would be at third base long-term. If Bohm is moved and no clear 3B is established at the Major League level, look to Miller to be dealt for a major league option, or prepare for them to let it ride with Edmundo Sosa and Miller to appear later during the season.
When I was assembling this list, I wanted to pick one extra of the usual three that get talked about, especially one that could help the Phillies' Bullpen. Griff McGarry could help the Phillies' Bullpen. He’s got three plus pitches and a profile that just absolutely drips back-end bullpen stuff. Control is a significant issue, but we’re rolling with unabounding optimism today at the blog. He dealt with some injury problems this season, but I have faith in a bounce-back for McGarry. At 26, it’s now or never for him, and I believe.
Are there any Phillies prospects we should cover more in-depth? Let us know in the comments!
