The essence of the Offseason

For 29 fanbases, the offseason is a time of quiet, often sad, reflection on the team's performance and the void it leaves behind.

Baseball offers a hideaway during the long days of summer, when the heat drags on and you sit in front of your air conditioner, begging for some form of release.

Obviously, there is some hope for the future; significant changes occur within franchises overnight during the offseason.

Fanbases like the White Sox remember the chase for Machado and Harper less favorably now. Still, when it was happening, their social media was more optimistic than we had seen before.

Football is a slow build every week; basketball's regular season has become bereft of moments. Baseball is a steady, calming presence that you can depend on to "Buffer the passage of time."

Overall, the waiting game is ever-present as Agents and players hold final meetings with GMs, and negotiations start kicking into gear.
